In my youth I had a darkroom in the basement of my home. When I was about 5 years old my dad shined some light on a piece of paper, dropped it in some water, and an image appeared in front of my eyes. That was magic to me, so from that point on I was hooked. I worked in photography for six plus years after high school, eventually setting it aside to pursue a career in aviation.
I rediscovered my passion for photography in 2016. Feedback from family and friends inspired me to get back into displaying and selling my images.
While I continued to work full time in aviation, I began to exhibit in local craft shows on the eastern plains: Strasburg, Bennett, Byers, Watkins and Limon. With help and encouragement from my family and the community I looked for more opportunities to grow.
In 2019 I applied for, and was accepted into, the Colorado Photographic Arts Center Veteran’s Workshop. This helped build my confidence and improved my skill. Since then I have had my images accepted into international exhibits and displayed in galleries throughout the United States. One of my images was selected for the Morgan Community College 2023 calendar. I have had the honor of judging Junior and Senior Photography at the Arapahoe County fair over the past 3 years and photographed the Arapahoe County 4H Livestock show in 2023. I am a member of the Corridor Creative Arts League and I also donate time and images to the local newspaper photographing sports and other events on the corridor.
